Blue/Green Reef Chromis

Chromis viridis

Other Names: Reef Chromis

Origin: Indonesia

Reef Safe: Yes.
Whether or not a fish is "Reef Safe" simply refers to the fish's likelihood of eating corals clams, or invertebrates. If you're not keeping any of those than having a fish that is not reef safe might be perfectly fine for you! For those that do however should watch out, any fish marked as not being reef safe might end up eating all your corals.

Jumper: No.
A fish referred to as a "jumper" is one which might take large leaps out of the surface of your water on occasion. In order to house a fish known for jumping you need to ensure that your tank is completely covered or else your fish might go "carpet surfing" and be out of luck.

Max Size: 2.5"

Reccomended Tank Size: 30 gallon minimum.

Temperature range: 72-82F

Description:
The Blue/Green Reef Chromis has a shiny nearly iridescent blue/green body which vary in it's appearance depending on angle and lighting. They are a fairly small fish which can be kept in groups or alone.

Diet:
Omnivore, will readily accept prepared frozen foods.

Temperament:
The Reef Chromis is not very aggressive towards other fish, but in groups the smallest of the group can be picked on. There is much debate about the best way to maintain a shoal of Reef Chromis, but it seems to depend mostly on luck. They are best kept in shoals of 3-10 fish when with other more aggressive fish.
