Short Tentacle Plate Coral

Description:
This coral is typically circular or oval shaped. It has many ridges which lead to a central mouth. It's general shape is such that it would flip itself over in the ocean when upside down. It is hydro dynamically shaped in a such a way that water current helps to push food from it's surface towards it's central mouth.

The surface of the plate is covered in short tentacles that will extend during it's feeding period.

They can be found in a variety of colors including blue, purple, green and yellow.

Lighting Requirements:
This coral should be placed on the sand bed and thus will require fairly moderate to high lighting.

Flow Requirements:
This coral only need low to moderate flow. It should not have any flow directed specifically towards it.

Growth:
The coral will extend outwards at a fairly slow pace. Jouveniles can grow from skeletal stem creating a mushroom like shape. As they mature they can break free and are capable moving themselves around the sand bed. Growth can be helped with regular feedings of brine shrimp or other small meaty food with the flow off.
