Elegance Coral
Catalaphyllia jardinei
Origin: Bali, Jakarta
Description:
The elegance coral has a very distinguishable look to it that makes it difficult to confuse with many other corals. It has large flat valleys in the center around the mouths which are often exposed directly to light. Around these flat valleys are large numerous tentacles with a powerful sting. The elegance coral can come in a wide variety of colors often very light and less commonly dark with high contrast.
Lighting Requirements:
The elegance coral prefers strong lighting. It is generally required that it be placed on the sand bed so that's flesh does get torn on live rock. Since it must be placed so low in the aquarium strong lighting is reccomended.
Flow Requirements:
The elegance coral prefers moderate to low flow, never so much that it's flesh cannot expand without risk to the coral.
Growth:
Growth will extend the coral in girth and length with several mouths appearing. Occasional budding has been reported from this coral.
